Fueled by an unstoppable defense, the Eagles refused to let the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, take control. The victory gave Philadelphia its second Super Bowl championship in just seven years, cementing their place as one of the NFL’s elite teams.
Kansas City, fresh off winning three Super Bowls in the past five seasons, including the last two, entered the game with high expectations. They were seeking to make history as the first team in the Super Bowl era to win three titles in a row.
Mahomes, who has often been compared to NFL legend Tom Brady, was seen as the key to making that dream a reality. His remarkable ability to win close games, as well as Kansas City’s streak of 17 consecutive victories in one-score games, made them appear unbeatable when the game was on the line.

Despite finishing with 257 yards and three touchdowns, Mahomes was stifled for much of the game, particularly in the first half when he had only 33 yards. His usual ability to extend plays was neutralized by a relentless Eagles defense.
Interestingly, the Eagles’ victory came with little contribution from their star running back, Saquon Barkley, who had been a key factor in their playoff run. Barkley had set a new record for the most rushing yards in a season, playoffs included, surpassing Terrell Davis of Denver with 2,478 yards.
However, in this game, he struggled, finishing with just 57 yards on 25 carries, his second-lowest rushing total of the season. Despite this, Philadelphia cruised to a dominant win, largely due to the strength of their passing game.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts played a pivotal role in the Eagles’ offensive success. He connected with A.J. Brown for a 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter, giving Philadelphia a commanding 24-0 lead. Later, in the third quarter, Hurts hit DeVonta Smith for a 46-yard touchdown pass, which effectively sealed the game, extending the lead to 34 points. Hurts completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

The Chiefs made a late attempt to narrow the gap, as Mahomes threw two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the game. However, by that point, the game was already well out of reach.
